The Barton Community

The Walker Center is currently accepting applications.

The Barton Community is spread across three different homes and one apartment.

Barton House
This elegant three-story nineteenth century house is our primary student housing building. It offers:
  • 19 sleeping rooms
  • A number of single rooms as well as a few family rooms or suites
  • A single shared kitchen, large dining room, two living rooms, and porch
  • Laundry facilities in basement

Howard House
This smaller but stately home has earned the nickname "Green House" because its residents commit to sustainable living practices when they move in. For many years, this house was an extension of Boston University School of Theology. While Boston University  remains a partner, as of 2019, this house has joined with the larger Barton Community. This home offers:
  • 4 bedrooms (2 single rooms and 2 family rooms) with shared bathrooms
  • Shared kitchen, living room, and dining room
  • Laundry facilities in basement

Hume House
This house is used for additional Barton Community members. This home offers:
  • 4 bedrooms with shared bathrooms
  • Shared kitchen, living room, and dining room
  • Laundry facilities in basement

Harding Apartment
This is a private apartment for a couple or for two single roommates. It can also be used for additional Barton Community members.
